Balanced and Bone Fit
Osteoporosis affects around 54 million Americans and as we age, our bone health becomes increasingly more important to maintain. Strength training, weight-bearing, balance, posture, and functional exercises are vital to staying strong, preventing falls, and improving our overall health. Join us for our exercise training series, Balance and Bone Fit, designed for individuals with osteoporosis and osteopenia. The class will include an initial balance assessment and safe, effective exercise routines and progressions to help you live a healthy, active lifestyle.
Human Performance Testing
ImPACT Testing
At the forefront of proper concussion management is the implementation of baseline and/or post-injury neurocognitive testing. Such evaluation can help to objectively evaluate the post-injury condition and track recovery for safe return to play, thus preventing the cumulative effects of concussion.
Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Test
A resting metabolic rate tells you how many calories your body burns all day, every day, just to stay alive. How many more you burn through activities of daily living and exercise is up to you! We'll help you use that information to construct an eating and exercise plan designed to meet your goals.
Aerobic Capacity (VO2 Max) Test
Testing for your VO2 Max – the maximum amount of oxygen your body can use per minute – is the ultimate measure of your aerobic capacity. This test is performed on a treadmill by progressively increasing intensities while monitoring your heart rate, breathing, and oxygen consumption.
Functional Movement Screen (FMS)
This program focuses on an individual’s fundamental movements, motor control within movement patterns, and competence of basic movements. By determining the greatest areas of movement deficiency and limitations or asymmetries we can develop a corrective exercise routine to aid in injury prevention. Based on an individual’s results, corrective exercises will be given to help train necessary postures and patterns.
Medical Fitness Rx
At times, your physician may recommend lifestyle modifications, such as diet and exercise, as part of your treatment. If exercise is recommended, your physician may refer you to our Medical Fitness Rx Program.
Through this program, patients will receive a personalized exercise prescription, developed by a degreed exercise specialist in conjunction with your physician, detailing fitness activities to help you adopt regular physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle. The program includes one month free membership to Valley Health LifeStyles medical fitness center, a fitness and physical activity assessment that includes aerobic fitness, muscle strength and endurance, flexibility, and a functional activity review, periodic follow-up with an exercise specialist, and more. Reach out to your provider for more information on this program.
Meditation and Meditative Flow Series
Meditation has been used for centuries to achieve a happier, healthier, and calmer state of well-being. This three-part workshop incorporates guided meditations, gentle movement, optional journaling, and sound. This is held quarterly.
